In 1935, Paul Sperry observed his dog run with agility across ice and snow. Curious as to why dogs had the capability to maintain such traction, Sperry peeked at the soles beneath his dog’s paws. There he found lines across his dog’s paws extending in all directions. He took this concept and applied it to his rubber shoes, using a pen knife to cut into the rubber outsole. Soon, Sperry Top Sider opened and the innovations targeting unbeatable quality and high performance have since been endless, leading Sperry Top Spider to truly be an American Original.
