Over 30 years ago in 1971, two students enrolled at the University of Santa Cruz, CA, discovered the idea of a Marmot club among their travel in the Alaskan Juneau Icefields. In becoming a full-fledged Marmot, one would be required climb up to the peak of a glacier with a certified Marmot. Thus, the need for quality gear arose and at last these two students, Eric Reynolds and Dave Huntley, created prototypes of camp gear directly in their dormitory. The innovation set off like wildfire and in 1974 Marmot became an official company. Since then, Marmot has been introducing and transforming camp gear with undying passion. Today, Marmot has offices all over the world including Hong Kong, Canada, Sweden, United Kingdom and Germany.
